What time does the program start and end?
The start and end time for SEF events vary from day to day. A detailed schedule will be posted shortly.
Are meals provided?
Half of your breakfasts and all of your lunches will be provided during your stay. Only the first and last night's dinners will be provided so please budget accordingly.
Where will I be staying?
Participants will be housed on the Duke University campus in same-sex dorms.
What should I bring?
North Carolina has great weather during the month of May. Shorts and t-shirts are recommended. You will need closed toe shoes and baseball hats for our field trips. Make sure to bring a t-shirt from your school. We will be taking a group photo of everyone in the beginning of the week. You will also want to bring a backpack, laptop computer (if you have one), swimsuit and materials to take notes with.
How will I get from the airport to Duke University?
You are responsible for coordinating your own transportation between the airport and Duke University.
Who can apply?
U.S. citizens in their junior or senior year of an undergraduate degree or first year masters students may apply. There are 40 available spots.
What do I need to apply?
Download and fill out the application form and e-mail it along with an essay describing your interest in the Sustainable Energy Fellowship. The essay should be double spaced, 11.5 pt., Times New Roman font and no more than 1,000 words. Your name and school name should be included in the footer of each page.
How many applicants will be accepted?
We have space for 40 participants.
How much will it cost?
All costs, including room and board, travel during the program and educational materials, have been graciously donated by Shell and the Ford Motor Company Fund. Please note, air travel will be capped at $350.00 with the student responsible for any cost above this amount .
